Those are all excellent songs, hooligan. Some of my other favorite's include 13, Vacuum Boots, Telegram, The Devil May Care, That Girl Suicide, Servo, Sue, Dawn, Cabin Fever, and IT Girl.

sorry to intrude, don't know BJM well enough to name fav songs. But I noticed your Denis Leary quote. Just to let you know, he ripped off Bill Hicks, check him out, he was much funnier.

Good list. A few I hadn't heard (but I am currently downloading...thank God BJTM gives 'em out for free http://www.brianjonestownmassacre.com/mp3.php). A few quick additions I would make are:

Spanish Bee
13
Straight Up and Down
The entire Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request album - holy crap is this one good. All Around You (Intro), Donovan, and Miss June '75 are so incredible.

Anyway, BJTM is the $hit. I'm having a hard time getting my hands on this movie, as they are a pretty friggin' obscure band, especially here in Missouri.

Keep the music evil...

I like Sailor best. Anemone is damn cool too.
Obviously the footage speaks for itself no matter how much Anton disapproves the film, but in my opinion the BJM aren't THAT out of control all of the time. I'm not saying they're any less out of control than the Dandies, but the slant that the Dandies are the 'good' band and the BJM the 'bad' one irked me. I found the Dandies' scenes pretty bring, and definitely watched this film to see the BJM and Anton, no matter how over the top he was at the time of the filming. Reviewers dubious about Anton's talent need to go see the BJM live.

Oh Lord
In My Life
Anemone
Stars

oh, they're all just fantastic. Those would probably be my top 5, but I love the long version of Straight Up and Down a lot too.

SO many to choose from. This is my top 10 list (subject to change)

Nevertheless
Whoever you are
Going to Hell
Servo
Hide and Seek
Anenome
Cabin Fever
Swallowtail
Ballad of Jim Jones
Devil may care

Only 2 quotes in the memorable quotes section? There are tons of them in the movie

Who
Nailing Honey to A Bee
Swallowtail -- AMAZING

Their catalog is so deep. Truly a great band, and proof you must separate the art from artist (Leni Riefenstahl, case in point).

No I'm NOT calling Anton a Nazi...

reply

As hard as it is to choose since all of their songs that I've heard are so amazing...

I'm going to go with "Hide and Seek". "Cold to the Touch" is way up there too.

And the list keeps on going. In my book, the Brian Jonestown Massacre is an awesome band, that is led by a musical genius (Anton A. Newcombe). I don't care if people say that Anton isn't a genius, and that his music is derivative...because after all...all music is derivative from one point of time. The Rolling Stones wouldn't have been so inspired, if the R'n'B of the early days didn't exist. Same goes for other prominent musical artists.

I listen to the BJM songs everyday...and God willing...Anton A. Newcombe will keep making this beautiful music that makes me feel so happy and at ease. Many songs are nostalgic, which thus suit my reflective and somewhat emotional personality. God bless Anton and the BJM!!!

I really liked the live performance of Anemone that they have in the DIG special features but I dont like it as much off of the CD...it's still good but the live version is sooo much better
