Detention center are terrible: Read this about a real detention cetner.

In the Northwest Detention Center in Washington State the following human rights violations have happened, and congress has done nothing about it.

1. The center is built under a toxic waste dump, people have gotten sick from the location.

2. The center is owned by the same people who own Guatanamo Bay in Cuba.

3. People are only given one meal a day and this meal does not take into account people who have special diets for religious or moral issues. One Jewish man had to eat pork which is sinful in his religion.

4. People are unable to have religious items, one man had is prayer rug taken from him.

5. They violate the rights of US citizens by taking their pictures and gathering illegal info on peaceful people standing vigil at the center.

6. Many people got sick and were not given proper care. There was food poisoning outbreak and half the people got sick. One man got sick and lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks and the center did nothing. Another lady who was going to have a baby had complications and only after protests they let her see a doctor. By waiting so long they put her and the unborn child at rick. Once born the child and the mother will be sent back to the mother's country.

7. Several people have died form infections and other illnesses. The center acualy watched one woman suffer and die, they did not even call 911 for help.

8. The family unit is torn apart. One person was crying telling us that her kids cry for their daddy every night. when they ask why daddy is not at home, she is at a loss of word and does not know what to say to the kids. Another woman said the cops and ICE came into her home with guns drawn and arrested her husband who had been turned in for simply being undocumented

9. Each and every day, the center gets 100 dollars for every immigrant, they have one thousand dollars everyday but fail to improve conditions.

10. Children in detention are not allowed to go outside, to play. Their cells have just a tiny window and they exercise yard consists of dirt and chicken wire which allows the kids to see the sky but hardly anything else.

11. They deport people who are afrade for their lives. The poor people do not even get to see a judge face to face. The judge is in the city of Seattle, while the center is in Tacoma. When the immigrants face the judge, they face him/her on close circut tv. Also, many immigrants do nto have lawyers, they wre expected to defend themselves.

12. The immigants have to pay for basic supplies. The have to pay for toothpase, tolite papper and blankets. If they do not have the money their teeth gets cavities and they ge really cold.

13. The food is substandard, they have to pay for everyting, and there is no medical treatment. However the Northwest Detention Center has 1000 beds. Every day the government gives 90 dollers to the ctr, for each immigrant. The money does not go twoards the immigrants, the money goes to the guards. I was there fro a peace gathering, and i saw 6 different guards drive up in BMWs.

I cannot for the life of me see how this post enlightens me or demonstrates any relevence with this movie.

However sympathetic I may be to the cause of refugees & asylum seekers everywhere, I find this post inappropriate on many levels.

1. It refers to a Detention Centre elsewere in Washington State and then sets itself as a comparison to the Detention facility featured in the film.

2. The post itself appears to be composed of hyperbole rather than fact.

3. The overall tone of the post lacks any form of objectivity and appears to be a pastiche of irrelevent and emotive statements.

4. A complete lack of citation to back up any of these statements so that one may make their own independent enquiries and research and hopefully arrive at their own reasonable conclusions.

I defend to the death your right to an opinion, however it is a shame that in this case it appears as a baseless and ill-informed opinion.

IMHO, it is an insult to the strong message portrayed by this film, as well as the good work of many people involved with assisting refugees and asylum seekers, including both government and non-government organisations, volunteers including pro-bono legal representatives, charitiable organisations and ethnic-orientated support groups.
