Great movie

I've been meaning to watch this for years but somehow I always kept passing it. Today while browsing through netflix I saw that it was there and i finally sat down to watch it. Great movie and great acting but also such a heartbreaking story.

Yeah I gotta admit it did bring tears to my eyes.

Yes, the ending was very sad. When Ennis picks up the shirt of Jack to smell was so sad.

It was... Made me miss Heath.

reply

That's true. The fact that Heath is gone made the movie even sadder.

Might need to rewatch this one. It has been a while

I loved this film, and have seen it a couple of times. It was a great story, and tells us that you never know where you will find love.

reply

I wish I knew how to quit it.

I liked it too.....

It's interesting that in The Hollywood Reporter's recount of controversial Oscar decisions in 2015 Brokeback Mountain was named Best Picture over Crash. I wonder what made the Academy voters change their minds?

I always thought it deserved the Best Picture Oscar along with Best Director, but I never let Oscar decisions bug me too much, they are often wild and wacky to say the least.

reply

It seems to me Oscar decisions are so American and very much influenced by promotion and marketing, and by the zeitgeist that they may not mean much in the longer term. But they are interesting at the time.

It's a very good film. But for me then falls in to the never particularly want to watch it again list. It's curious how some films don't have a rewatchability - if there is such a word - though obviously it's a very subjective list.

No I completely understand where you’re coming from. I’ve seen it twice, once at the theatre and once at home and I’ve got no great desire to see it again, although I wouldn’t flip the channel if I found it on TV.

Schindler’s List is another great, important, exquisitely made film that I’ve seen once and have never wanted to revisit.
