Evil...

This documentary is excellent at the showing the evils of poverty, greed, capitalism, child abuse, prostitution, neglect, etc... What always gets me mad is seeing how the parents and grandparents are willing to drag these kids down with them instead of letting them lead better lives, thats just so messed up.

no matter the economic and social advances of india, they still have the caste system

it is not that the parents want to bring the children down in the gutter with them, they believe there is no other choice

Wow. I grant you that prostitution, child abuse, and neglect are evil. But the problems these people suffer do not stem from greed or capitalism. The next time you fire up your computer or get into your car, realize that is capitalism at work. In fact, I could call you "greedy" for having a job, a car, and a computer. But then I would be just as ridiculous as you.

Why these people live in such poor conditions is due to reasons other than "the evils of capitalism and greed." In fact, it's the opposite of what you think. The LACK of capitalism and greed keeps them in poverty.

Capitalism is about creating opportunities for people. These filmmakers, with their cameras and teachings and attempts at finding the kids good schools, is an example of freedom, creating opportunity, and personal responsibility. So the opportunity exists, but no one is taking advantage of it.

Calcutta is, as almost all cities, open to tourism as well, all in the name of capitalism and boosting their economies. But have you taken advantage of that? Probably not. Why? Maybe because Calcutta hasn't made itself attractive to tourists. So that's an example of a lack of capitalism and
"greed" (aka "making a living" like you do, and "creating a better place to live for their citizens").

Your (red) Marxist colors are showing, friend.
