Japanese or English dub? (I know this has been asked a million times)lol

Which is better?
I plan on starting the series very soon.

Japanese + subtitles, definitely.

I could give you a hundred reasons, but really, Japanese voice actors are a million times better than the dubs, they're the original voices, and I assure you the dubs are nowhere close the same level of commitment and intensity, not to mention that the dub hasn't caught up with the latest episodes. The english voices just sound out of character and way, way too forced, and the whole thing becomes silly.

Always go for the original + subtitles, you won't regret it. After you've grown used to the original voices, look up the dubs and you'll - hopefully - see what I mean, it's a whole different thing.

Also, the dub (well, one dub that I know of) has a lot of stuff censored, like replacing cigarettes with candies, and weapons with water guns, not to mention skipping entire episodes + arcs and removing all the blood.

Seriously, screw all dubs, watch the originals! That's how it was intended to be consumed in the first place.

Fine, fine, I'll leave! But first I'm going to bother these peanuts! Hmm? Yes? Hmm? HMM?

The only situation where I thought the dub was better on this show was the voice Funimation used for Enel. No one else even comes close.

It's funny to hear Sonny Strait compare his Usopp to Kappei Yamaguchi. He doesn't think he's better or even as good...just perpetually challenged by how far Yamaguchi takes the character.

At the quantum level, reality does not exist if you are not looking at it.

😒 Japanese voice acting isn't always superior to english dubs.

reply

It is, and it should always be, if the original source is japanese.

Go with Japanese on this show, the dub isn't very good. If you care about sub quality, go with Kaizoku Fansubs and then Yibis from where KF left off.
