Where does the money come from?

I'm not sure if anybody has asked this yet,so here it goes.
Where does Ty and his team get all that money to buy the things they need, like the furnitures for example?

reply

Given the MAJOR namedropping and logo displaying, I would assume they are donations.

It comes from the network and the sponsors.

luventv,
yes, it does. why do people think ty finances these homes and does all the work?
why don't they understand he works for abc? he's no humanitarian.

reply

Nope, they are all donations from local businesses.
Ty does not work on the homes, by the way. He only came in for the unveiling of the Watson home here in Knoxville, Tn earlier yesterday, and on Monday for filming. He is a nice guy, and interviewed me on the show, but he had to be in three cities at one time. The humanitarians are the ones who donate their (our) time, the ones that donate the materials and furniture, and the companies and good people that have fed us skilled laborer volunteers and other workers. The EM part of it is all pretty much a business, the building part is done by volunteers and headed by local construction companies who donate their time.

They did a build in upstate NY a couple years ago, the show with the guy who trains kids to box. One of the contractors was on a local radio talk show a week or so before and that question came up. He said the furnishing and things are donated, but on top of that a lot of local companies donate things as well. I seem to remember him saying something like they had 4 or 5 flat screen TV's.

Wow and I thought somebody had to pay for something.I guess even the big businesses can be generous.

acthor,
you've never heard of tax write offs?

reply

It's product placement. Companies allocate funding in their advertising budget to have their products incorporated into films and television shows, this occurs in numerous programs. They give the products and usually pay a nominal fee to the television/film companies. Unless of course it's something like the family being sent on vacation to Disney World, then it's just cross-promotion considering Disney owns ABC.

We are just completing a build with EMHE here where I live. The money for the build, the furnishings, and labor is donated by local companies and volunteers in the area of the build. I had a chance to talk to a member of the main construction company for the build and he said the goal is for EMHE to have zero outlay outside of their own production costs.
