Just think about it.
These people are living in a two bedroom home with 25 people because they can't affor better.
They are built a mansion, with heated indoor pool, 30 rooms.
and guess what. These people can't afford the central air or the water bill so they end up losing the home.
It's all very sad.

The stories of "unaffordable homes" has been greatly exaggerated from the research I've done. Check out wiki for an explanation of each homeowner who sold their homes. If I remember correctly they were sold in one case to cover medical cost and a few due to community problems where there was backlash & arguments that family wasn't deserving. I remember on one Beyond the Scenes show that Ty briefly mentions that part of qualifying entails a financial check to ensure families can afford the cost of the new home with higher taxes, utilities, etc. Perhaps you could do a quick Google and find more articles that support either of our information. The media can't let a good news show move happily along without hoping to sensationalize the cons of a great show. There's no reason to give the show or families a black mark if it isn't deserving of it.
Btw, I read all these articles because I wanted to nominate my parents who are extremely active in their community and lost their home last week in a fire-a total loss. At 72 years old and my dad handicap many of us thought they would be great candidates for the show only to find it stopped production in 2012. If anyone knows of a similar show that perhaps might help my parents start over again in a handicap accessible home with a bit of ease I would appreciate the information greatly.
In high school, my friends and I nominated a teacher, and the application was pretty detailed. It required all kinds of financial information. They definitely can and do male sure the families would be able to afford it after.

All the homeowners ended up with massive mortgages that they couldn't afford.And in this economy,it's VERY hard to sell a house THAT size.There were a lot of foreclosures because of this show.
