Wow...so much hate on the discussion threads!!

My husband and I love this movie because we watch it for what it is....entertainment. We also love Queen Latifah and because she is an amazing talent.

In "Bringing Down the House", she was hilarious working with Steve Martin. That dinner scene at the house with the rich British woman, while cringe-worthy because of embarrassing remarks and songs that made her seem like she stepped right out of 1860's Atlanta...Queen Latifah's reactions were hilarious!!
Especially when Steve Martin's character cocks his head to the side and says...."Huh".

Come one folks...just watch the movie and have fun with it. It's not racist. If you are living in Atlanta, depending on what part of town you are in, you will see "stereotypical" whites and blacks. This is life in the south folks and although some of it may seem racist at times, for most, it is just their life.

Sadly, this is life EVERYWHERE. The south doesn't have the market cornered on racism. Far from it.
I just "got here" (to this board) so haven't read all the hate you're referring to, but I do think that it's very sad that there are still such petty types of blanket-style hate. How can we hate all blacks, all whites, all gays, all men, all women, or all anything, and have any hope for a future for this world??

Agree! This movie is fun, good entertainment. Not going to win any Oscars, but it's better than a lot of the crud that comes out, like Batman and Robin for example.
