Plot Issue. (Spoilers)

The plot point I am referring to is Gianni (the bad guy) has been commissioned by a Colombian drug cartel to eliminate their enemies, in this case being the National Drug Control agency. To do this, his plan is to use a deadly virus that is spread by breathing on someone, infecting the head of the National Drug Control agency, and let the virus kill them all and therefore stop what ever policies that would have caused a problem for the drug cartel.

My issue is this: Did Gianni think that the virus would only kill the people in the agency and then miraculously stop spreading? I would think that this idea was not well thought out. If the virus spreads by just breathing on someone then every single person those people came in contact with would be infected. Secretaries, associates, reporters, guards, people they pass in the hallway, family members, etc. This virus could have easily wiped out a very large part of the population and since Gianni had the only cure it might have devastated most of the planets population.

lol the plot

The virus (somehow) dies after 24 hours.
So it will only infect people during a day.

reply

Wait, does the virus die after 24 hours or it takes 24 hours to kill the infected person? I took it as the latter, but either way a lot of people would get infected in those 24 hours when it is airborn! I love that in the end he gets the bad guy but how do they extract the antidote out of him? And we are only supposed to worry about the main characters that have the virus, but what about the millions that would have gotten it after the conference? There can't be an antidote ready for them all in time, even if you could find them. So I assume that at least millions died of the virus off screen, since it spread so easy and fast. Oh boy...

reply

Gianni had the antidote. So he was safe. Anyone else who wanted it could buy it off him.

reply

Yeah i know that that was his plan, but I was referring to the ending of the movie.

reply

They said that it goes inert after 24 hours. Didn't really make a lot of sense.

I'm sorry... a plot!? Where was it?
