Always Ending Abruptly

I've noticed Satoshi Kon's films always seem to end abruptly, Tokyo Godfathers, Perfect Blue, Paprika...(I still haven't seen Millenium Actress, but I really want/need to)
Anyway, I really like it, it also seems to fit the mood of his films. Some people complain about it, but I really enjoy it.

And didn't he direct the TV show Paranoia Agent, didn't that end abruptly too? There was so much madness in that show I can barely remember the ending.

Frankly, I wish a movie ending abruptly was the norm. Movie endings are usually boring. You should watch There Will Be Blood for an ending I think done perfectly.

And Lord of the Rings: Return of the King or AI for endings done horribly badly.

I'm finished.

RoTK was faithful to book in the end which was good imo.

I think that the endings of most of those films (+series) ended as they should. I've seen other animes/films where they prolong the ending as much as possible so the viewer gets a full understanding of what every aspect of the film is about. But thinking of "Tokyo Godfathers", in particular, I think the ending was perfect. Satoshi Kon made sure that every aspect of the movie reached a climax, or a finalization if you will, in just a few seconds before cutting to the credits. This is most likely to give the viewer a time to think for themselves after the film. I remember sitting, watching the rolling credits of that movie for almost a minute thinking "Aaaaahhhhh". However, I think this might be best illustrated with "Paranoia Agent" or "Perfect Blue" as they truly are work which you have to think about up to days after watching.

Maybe it's just me, though. But that's how I see it.

As much as I liked Perfect Blue and Paprika, the abrupt endings actually bugged me a bit. Tokyo Godfathers, on the other hand, ended perfectly.
