Brilliant movie

This movie is fantastic.

The actors did a great job in this one. I've just read that there will be a new movie in 2008 with Tom Cruise.(Valkyrie)
And believe me... it will never be as good as this one.
Sebastian Koch is the perfect person for this.
(I like Tom but this isn't such a good role for him)

The movie is fully spoken in german, has a perfect cast and is brought great onto your screen!

I can recommand it to everyone...

I agree. There is no way Tom Cruise can equal Sebastian Koch who is a superior actor.

I don`t know, I think the film is actually mediocre. Especially the first part could be better. I think the story only really takes off after he has been wounded. I love the scenes inside the Bendlerblock though. They have a lot of power. I also like the exchange between Remer and another Nazi where he ( at first)refuses to accept orders from a Minister(Goebbels), they portray this typical arrogant behaviour so well. It is still my favorite version so far.

There is something sick and twisted when Hollywood attempts to bring German movies to a wider audience. I just say let it go, good movies like this and another one Sebastian's great film - Das Leben der Anderen - are powerful enough that you don't need to an exorbitant budget to get the same (and in most cases dumbed down) message.

If anyone, as a random sidebar, knows where you can get this film on DVD in Australia that would be wicked. Alternatively, I could order it off Amazon but I would feel much more content with the subtitle safety net : )

I watched it yesterday on the History Channel. Excelent movie and great performances.

Is a very good work indeed.

Sebastian Koch did an excellent job here and the 1943 wounding of Stauffenberg and the events of 20 July are more accurate here than in Valkyrie. That being said, Valkyrie explains things a lot better, is more 'fun' to watch and does not invent slanderous things for the sake of drama (the Claus vs Nina spat just before 20 July was absolutely wrong). It's okay but only because Koch did a great job.

Though I'll be in the minority and say that Cruise did a better job.
