I agree with Tim Allen.

All Tim Allen wanted to do was treat himself and his wife to a nice getaway. He was not being selfish at all. In fact, he should have let his daughter know this when she called that they would be going on a cruise. If he was telling the old man the truth, the purchase of their dream vacation was final. It is incredibly selfish of the mom and the whole neighborhood. #teamTim

Yeah, whatever it was the neighbourhood honcho called them, they were all a bunch of nosy PSYCHOS themselves!

I hope next year, they have a move arranged, go on the cruise, and never return...

Just finished watching this myself and I agree completely. Why do people in Christmas movies behave so unrealistically? Just tell the truth already, and if the daughter is so wonderful as she's made out to be, she will be able to handle it like a big girl.

The neighbors pissed me off.

I agree, it was mostly Nora's fault for just pulling the plug on the cruise the second Blair called, but the neighborhood drama was pretty ridiculous as well. In real life people go away for Christmas all the time. It's over the top to have neighbors bullying them over it.

reply

The neighbors were horrible. I'd be a prick like Tim Allen all the time also if I lived around where everyone was a bully and judgemental on every thing I did.
Imagine living in that town being Jewish or a family that doesn't celebrate Christmas, they'd run you out of town

reply

I agree.

If this movie was trying to make the audience disagree with Tim Allen's behaviour, then it failed.

Even more annoying is Jamie Lee Curtis saying that he should start putting others first instead of himself.

Hmmmm, you mean like his charitable 600 dollar donations and Christmas Eve parties every year for the neighbours?

I really wanted to punch Dan Aykroyd's character in this.

Tim Allen's character was the only character who was likeable in some way.

Yep. I agree with him too. Why not treat yourself to something special once in awhile.

I do think he could have sent out Christmas cards and wouldn't his daughter expect a Christmas gift too? Also if someone gives you a gift accept it kindly. You don't have to give one in return if you don't want to.

My kids are teens now and our oldest is heading to college. I out myself in his shoes. You have no kids to celebrate with or family so why not skip Christmas and invest in a cruise. I'm sure they deserve it. Nothing wrong with that. Just be nice about it.

It should read "I put myself in his shoes."
