Is the strange man who knows everyone and offers the umbrella to Tim Allen in the beginning supposed to be Santa Claus?

I feel sure he was. Well disguised. Usually the Santa figure sticks out like a sore thumb immediately.
shareYes. We just watched it with captions on since the kids talk a lot during it. At the end when the Santa sleigh flew it has the guy's name next to what he said. His name slips my mind now. My oldest and I both said "Oh so he must be Santa." We were thinking maybe an angel.
