the neighbor pressure

Really outrageous and annoying. I always question why I enjoy this movie (help me, it's garbage, but I do, that's why I watch it early December, get it out of the way). They're so rude and selfish. Also, all the "We all miss Blair" is a bit creepy. And the Kranks' initial wish is odd, yeah, but their choice and in no way antagonistic. Also, what if a nice Jewish family moved into the neighborhood? Treating them like that would be xenophobic (maybe illegal?). Makes the neighborhood seem closed-minded by default.

I know how you feel, for some odd reason I enjoy this movie too, but everything about it is really quite annoying. I think most people watch this movie think "so what if Luther wants to skip Christmas? Who the hell are the neighbours to bully him about it?" and that's what makes it so ridiculous and annoying to watch, we identify with Luther and end up feeling angry at how people are treating him, rather than finding his troubles comedic.

The whole Blair aspect is also weird to me. Luther acts like he doesn't really like her & she's just a thorn in his side, whilst everyone else talks about her like she's a saint. The scene that I found most ridiculous was when all the kids ride down the street on their bikes as Blair arrives, "Blair's here! Blair! Blair! Omg it's BLAIR!!!!" Seriously? Not to mention she was only gone about 5 weeks. The whole neighbourhood is just so over the top it's flat out insane.

I try not to think too much about this movie & just enjoy it as a comedy. It's an easy one to hate.

Make me #3 only I watch it just to get pissed off because I could see this being filmed with the mentality of my home town... However, the bulk of the city wouldn't do crap to help somebody out! Yeah there's tons of social faux pas to the public, but we all know this kind of stuff happens everywhere in America - it's called the Junior Chamber of Commerce LOL!!

I agree the neighbors would literally get the cops called on them for invasion of privacy. They are complete psychos and what the hell was with the newspaper article about. This neighborhood is psycho. I would have moved if they acted like this. Like get a *beep* life you low life losers. Also does nobody besides Luther work in that neighborhood. Seems like they are always home doing nothing but getting ready for Christmas.

Sure the neighbors are outrageous and annoying, especially the Frohmeyer guy. But that's what you need to make the movie work. If the neighbors weren't intrusive the movie would be about a couple who prepare for a cruise.

The movie gives a nod to religious and cultural sensitivity when the choir director asks if the Kranks were Jewish, indicating they wouldn't bother them if the were.

The Krank's desire to skip Christmas was unusual. If someone truly wanted to do it they would take the two or three weeks before Christmas. Inexpensive travel was given as the reason but they could have just as easily traveled coming back on Christmas rather traveling going to on Christmas.

I was watching the movie yesterday and was noticing the neighbors rudeness about The Kranks going on a cruise for Christmas I mean who cares where they go for Christmas that is their choice. Then I noticed the neighbors wasn't on the black family case they went out of town for Christmas, but maybe its because they had their decorations up.

I thought it was weird too how the neighbors was willing to help The Kranks with their decorations for Blair, I would have thought Blair was some celebrity figure the way everyone was acting.

i just want to know what the neighborhood power bill is! 

I agree its bs but with it being a comedy id still have liked it fine if it dIdnt 180 halfway through and tried to paint tim allen as the stereotypical scrooge maybe he went to wn extreme in some aspects but if i is as going through what he was id be feeling just like him we still have our family Christmas get together but over the years some have paired off and donother things its still nice but every so often I just wish the others would show up if only for a minute
