What was the point of changing the title

The books title gets the job done just as well as the films title so why waste effort trying to replace qn equally serviceable title

As I understand it, the title was changed to avoid being confused with Surviving Christmas (2004).

What, you thought I was being serious? 

I would guess so the reviews wouldn’t read “Skipping Christmas…more like skipping the theaters”
