Don't get all the hate. I thought this movie was fantastic.
Seriously people, lighten up. This is just a Christmas movie after all. I thought all the cast did a great job in this and I love watching this movie at Christmas.

shareWe watched it again last night and laughed ourselves silly. As for the people who do not find it funny--too bad, so sad.
There have been movies and TV series over the years that many others say are fabulous that leave me shaking my head wondering what in it was the least bit funny.
When I was a kid, millions of people thought the comic strip/books/TV specials, etc. featuring the Peanuts gang were the funniest comics around. Yet I remember my favorite grade school teacher telling us she doesn't find Charlie Brown and friends funny at all. Just an example of how comedy affects people differently.
I laugh and laugh at Fawlty Towers, but my sister and brother-in-law, who normally love anything British, have said they don't like that series at all.
For any comedy, even if you know a person who hates a film you love, it doesn't do any good to try to lecture them about their poor sense of humor. If they don't like it, they don't like it. I'll just enjoy it and not worry about them.
Why don't we just shoot 'em down and be through with it?
I think it's an okay movie if you can actively put aside the almost inevitable frustration that will arise from how ridiculous and over the top the entire thing is, not to mention how simple it would be to handle the situation in real life. "Fantastic" is not a word that can be used to describe it if we are being objective. It can be enjoyable though if you really just decide to accept the awfulness of it all.
"Your petty vengeance fetish will have to do withOUT Mr. Groin!"
I don't know why people hate this film either. It's completely absurd but it has a nice atmosphere to it and is funny in parts. I remember when it was released it was critiqued heavily for not commenting on the religious core of the holiday, which I always thought was a silly argument. A lot of people who aren't Christians celebrate the holiday. The reality is that Christmas as we know it has multiple historical origins, many of which have nothing remotely to do with the birth of Jesus.
Aside from that, yeah, the movie is mindless, but it's playful, and I love Jamie Lee Curtis in it.
The reason why people hate it is because it promotes commercialism and conformity, it's plot lacks consistency, and overall it's just NOT funny!
I agree. There are a lot of nitpicking arm chair critics who their opinions is the only one that matters. This movie is a family favorite and will forever be one.
shareIt's a fun film. I avoided it for a long time because I was never the biggest Tim Allen fan, but I eventually decided to give it a chance just because I was desperate for a new Christmas movie to watch.
Jamie Lee Curtis in particular is great.
I've seen it a few times since and it always makes it back into the rotation every few years.
This is one Christmas movie we watch at least twice during the Christmas season. The Sunday after Thanksgiving which is when the movie begins then again later.
shareI haven't seen this movie in years but remember really liking it a lot when I first saw it in the theaters back in late 2004, it's a really fun movie to watch and I give it an 8/10 based off the last time I watched this movie.
shareI agree! It’s just a fun Christmas film!!! Hubby and I love watching this!!
shareI don't understand the hate either, I find it to be a very fun, enjoyable film that deserves a better reputation, I give this movie an 8/10
