Werner Herzog's 'Stroszek'...

Surprisingly nobody so far has mentioned the equally thought-provoking German sleeper "Stroszek" depicting American misadventures of the title character appearing to a great extent to be an exact mirror image of this film and ending even on a more tragic note of suicide. I guess the director wanted either to improve upon his compatriot's original or even to remake that enormously poignant and sad story of one stray German's life gone awry in the supposed El Dorado of opportunities, which the U.S. of A. so shamelessly gushes to present itself as. I conclude - both films are inspirational, provide effortless storytelling and are "touching from a distance" (I hope someone gets this last puzzle of my remark in the right way ...). Recommended at the most!
