SPOILER - is this the original ending?

Watched RIVER QUEEN, as was very impressed, faults and all. But one thing that threw me was the end. Morton gets shot, apparently fatally. The next thing you know it was only a minor wound, and she's living happily forever with her family. This ending seems incongruous, and WAY too happy (and PIANO-esque) with what's come before. Was the an "added" ending to make the film end on a more pleasant note - i.e. like Hugh Jackman living in AUSTRALIA? Thanks for any info, and glad the film's finally come out on DVD in the US. Make more films Vincent Ward! Any plans on his new documentary's US release?

Just caught River Queen on DVD. Yes, this is the original ending that I remember seeing at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2005, so it wasn't changed after that initial festival showing.

Don't see a reason to spoil "Australia" for all of us that have not seen it yet. That was uncalled for..

Last time I checked, there was a bit of surgery after that bit, getting the bullet back out, which provoked a few screams/shrieks from Ms Morton in the movie.

Yay, it was a happy ending, but it did show the realisms of getting shot.
