Has anyone played the video game?

It's a pretty neat game for the pc? Lots of puzzles to solve in order to difuse the bomb planted inside rama. The game is called RAMA and is loosely based on RAMA II expedition.

Sometimes I see it on eBay if anyone's interested.

Couldn't find it on Ebay. Is there any place on the internet where I can download it?

If they did a new updated game version of this game, it would be great. They should start coming out with a games that have a big mystery theme to it and a surprise ending.

that game was great...I wish I still had it laying around. One of the best early adventure games for the pc.

I saw several (sealed) retail boxed copies of this game at a brick and mortar store a few weeks ago. Not positive, but I think they were selling them for like around 10 dollars each.

The store is called Universe Mall, and they also have a website, but their website doesn't show any PC games. In case someone might want to make a special order with them (if they even still have it), their website is http://www.universemall.com/

Edit:
The universemall store and website seem to be out of business.
They closed a short time after I posted this.

Yeah, it was pretty awesome. Used to creep me out a lot when I was younger. I loved that game, though. Still have the music I recorded from it, and I think it still plays on my mom's computer. But yeah. It was nifty.

I have it, but did not play it very long, and did not finish it.

I actually have the PC game "Rama", and also the Commodore 64 game "Rendezvous with Rama".

I didn't finish Rendezvous either. :-(

I still have it for the Mac. Tricky blessed game. :/ Interesting to see their take on the visuals, though.

It's one of my favorite all time games. Just the atmosphere of it, and the music is simply stunning!

I have "Rama" PC game.
I played it.
I finished it and it was a blast!

The puzzle-solving was mentally stimulating and the graphics amazing. I would put it in the same class as the "Journeyman" PC games.

I used to have the old Apple ][ version of the Trillium game Rendevous with Rama. I remember it was pretty cool text/graphics game that I never finished, but had an awesome illustrated fold out cover showing an image of the bridge of the endeavor on one side (with Rama in the Viewport) and when you unfolded it, there was a four-page-wide awesome, color illustration of the interior of Rama. I played that game before reading the book, and that awesome image stayed in my head will I was reading the story and drove my interest.

Because computer graphics were so limited back then, all of these games had beautifully hand illustrated boxes and manuals. You had to use your imagination to link the mostly text driven story with the images provided by the illustrations.

I just finished re-playing it last week. I am rereading the novels and dug out my Windows 98 machine just so I could play it. It was great for its time of early 90's puzlle adventure. Trying to compete witht the MYST market was tough and being it had strict story lines to attempt to follow I think it did okay. I'd give it 8/10. I won't ever let this one go.

Just use DOSBox to run old games on modern computers.

Me and my daughter read the first book and found it awesome escapism, and was overjoyed when the game came out. We finished it together and enjoyed it immensly.

There MUST be a market in PC games to get older games like this workable on Windows XP etc.

My first involvement with this type of game was Phantasmogoria, which I would LOVE to play again, but to no avail, I ALSO went down the Myst / Riven route but managed to get some of this enjoyment back through the Playstation.

I used to have the game. i read the book years before the game as well, didn't like it as much as the first book, thought the characters were silly and transparent. in the game, while i thought the puzzles were challenging and scenery good and interesting. i found the game too scripted, you couldn't really explore, just a steady pace from A to B to C etc..

i had the original 'rendevous' for the C64. Actually still have the original 5.25" discs. and have downloaded the C64 emulator and game. in fact, the game i played as a teen, got me started reading the book and Clarke. i loved it. i wish they would do a movie, or better yet a mini series on SyFy (aka Sci-Fi channel).

i've been tooling around using Poser & Coral to make a on line comic book of the first book. it'll be years, but it is good practice. i'll keep working on it.

I highly suggest people vote for the game at Gog.com, if enough vote we just might see it re-released to work on todays Windows systems.

Good memories. Still have the schematic for Rama and the rendezvous ship.
