As a black LAPD officer, I believe Tookie deserved to be executed

Tookie created the crips, one of the most notorious gangs in America. Because of guys like Tookie, hardworking black folks nonetheless get stereotyped as thugs and gangsters. I get stereotyped as a black thug because of Tookie. Tookie makes white supremacists seem justified in their ideals.

Tookie killed a 26 year old clerk during a robbery even though the clerk was fully cooperating. He executed him.

Later he brutally murdered an unarmed Taiwanese family.

I believe that if Tookie had truly redeemed himself, then he shouldn't have been executed but simply have gotten a life imprisonment. I don't believe it though.

While in prison, he constantly assaulted guards and other inmates. If he was truly redeemed, why did he refuse to help the police investigate his gang.

The worst part is that Tookie claimed to be innocent the whole time. How can he redeem himself if he won't even take responsibility for his actions? Because of his insistence of innocence, Tookie has not apologized for any of the murders.

Governor Schwarzenegger made the right decision. I wish that Tookie was redeemed. I really do. But I don't see the evidence to support that. He's damaged Los Angeles, families, and the black community. I feel no sympathy for those who don't take true responsibility for their actions.

The film is a good work of fiction and Jamie Foxx gives a good performance, but it's still a work of fiction.

Thanks for posting this. It's interesting to hear a police officer's point of view on someone like him. This guy was nothing but a low-life that should have gotten the death penalty earlier than he did.
