rip off Halloween? John Carpenter is a HACK

First off i would like to say *beep* john carpenter, he is a bitch who thinks any serial killer movie that came after halloween is a halloween rip off, for all the great movies jc made he has made just as many bad ones, *cough* ghosts of mars, Escape from L.A.,Village of the Damned, They Live *beep* it i cant name em all but there sure *beep* for the most part, he is a *beep* hack who got lucky to have the friends to help him get started, like common, if youve seen all his movies or most of them you would have no respect for him either, now, lets find some movies that arnt a rip off of something else in some way or another, americans just decided to flat out remake good asain horror and suck because they know thed be accused of ripping it off, so call it a remake and its all good, thats what dawn of the dead 04 was, it was a superb Zombie flick but it just wasnt DOTD, it was a knockoff

i agree, Malevolence was a dark good slasher with a good different build up with the whole bank robbing ordeal. Can't wait for the sequel and prequel.

John Carpenter's work in Halloween is atmospheric, German impressionistic, true horror. No gore. No BS. The soundtrack is the best ever made for a horror film. Malevolence is a HUGE rip off of Halloween and Texas Chainsaw (the original, not the over-hyped '03 remake). Malevolence will never be a classic, and will be forgotten about in film history because it is utterly forgettable. I can't believe anyone would want to drag out this pathetic storline for a prequel and a sequel.

99%? Over-dramatize much? Oh, of course you do - I forgot I read your initial post! And what's that "grammar" line supposed to mean? Just because I can put together a coherent sentence I'm a grammar Nazi? Whatever.

Troy where did you get "any serial killer movie" from ? Have never heard JC comment about other movies in these terms? The only thing the dude should be real ashamed about is putting his name to the remake of "The Fog". What were you thinking John?

I really liked Malevolence. I thought that it was very atmospheric, and done with a sense of style that is lacking in a lot of horror films made these days. However, if you can't see that the film borrowed heavily from Halloween, well, you're just not very intelligent. The pacing, the mood, the score, and even some of the exact same shots were there. There's no need to bash Carpenter. He's already had a great career and made some of the best films ever in the horror genre and others. I hope there is a sequel and a prequel to this film. It would be interesting to see where the story goes.

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubblegum.

um...did you see halloween?? that flick is just down right SCARY! enough said

...the boogeyman is real and you found him...

This was garbage....hardly Carpenter-ish...the only thing this movie ripped off from Halloween several identical or nearly identical sound snippets here and there. It was very noticable. Try some originality people. Cheap scares and ripped off sound snippets don't make for a scary movie.
