Glad it never franchised

I remember when this came out and Anchor Bay was practically shoving it up peoples behinds trying to play it off as the newest big thing in independant horror. Stores overstocked it. There was buzz about sequels. The director was boasting and acting like he was John Carpenter or something. Fast forward over a year and stores are still trying to get rid of the copies. The movie was pure waste. I'm glad in hindsight to see that most of us were right all along and that this movie and everyone behind it have become forgotten.
To the director, you're fifteen minutes of fame cost a lot of people a lot of money.

Is this a joke post? The prequel to Malevolence (titled Bereavement) was released last year and received pretty unanimous critical praise. Enough so that the director intends to move along with the third part of the trilogy. You're either kidding or clueless.

I think Malevelonce is above average but nothing amazing. Bereavement, on the other hand, is excellent.

Bereavement was a prequel that didn't even bother to follow what had already been grounded.

Yeah, you're right. I watched Malevolence again recently and realized that, while Bereavement was the better made film... it didn't really bother to stick to continuity with Malevolence.

I hate it when film-makers pull that junk.

I thought Bereavement was WAY better than Malevolence, like it's not even a close call for me. I think a lot of that was that the director had found his footing & saw what worked/didn't work in the previous film, which I think was his first ever. Hopefully the third movie doesn't backslide.
