What's the deal about sleeping in the car all night? (Big SPOILER)

I understand she wanted to be close to her son but she could have those over nighters in there own bedroom with much more comfort?

I'm sure the way things were going (and she didn't commit suicide) when her son was a teenager the mother would seduce him into an incestuous relationship. Her love for him was THAT SICK!

She wanted them to sleep in the car so she could kill him with the exhaust fumes.

I know that but that was the last time......I was talking about all the previous times before that.

What previous times? The movie is set in one night when they are pretending to go on a journey to relive the little boy's life. The rest of the movie is flashbacks. There's only one night which they sleep in the car.

OK Thanks! I missed that!

The mother wasn't really interested in sex. She merely used it as a means of achieving what she really wanted - a child. But I do think she would enter into a sexual relationship with the child if/when he became interested in sex and began looking for partners as a means of keeping/intensifying his love for her while keeping him from anyone else.

Wow, you *totally* missed the entire movie.

For one, there was only one time at they slept in the car. The rest of the movie was flashbacks from that single instance. Did you *seriously* not catch that?

For another, she cared nothing about sex. She never would have had sex with Loverboy; he was her son. Their relationship wasn't (and never would be) *physically* incestuous, just emotionally.
