If you were in L.A. during the riots..
...like I was, then *beep* you and your movie. People got killed here and lives were ruined.

I was in LA during the riots too. Films like this (of course, I haven't seen it yet) are needed to point out the obsurdity of the events that lead to the riots, so it won't happen again (yeah, right). It's going to be a long, hot summer. The crime rates are rising across America. The poor are getting poorer. Urban areas are getting overcrowded. Race relations are heating up. All we need is a catalyst and history repeats itself again.
shareAnd this kind of nonsense is helping ... how, exactly?
shareWhether it actually helps is up to the people. And, since history always repeats itself, in the end, as a wise man once said, "nothing's going to change the world." In a perfect world, satire shows people the obsurdity of their actions, leaders, etc. in a hope that they will learn from their past follies. But, people don't learn from their mistakes or the mistakes of others. But, that is no reason not to point them out. A Buddhist once told me, "trying is not for them, it's for you." Translation: your action makes you a better person, whether or not the action achieves the intended goal.
shareA comedy about the LA Riots - its so easy to hate this one and just poo poo it as if some of us don't enjoy this kind of satire. So go *beep* yourself and the kind of movies you think should be made.
shareLet's not forget that certain people in the movie - such as Calvin "Snoop Dogg" Broadus - were, themselves, in L.A. during the riots. May I recommend that you not judge the movie before you've seen it?
shareSnoop Dogg is in it for money. Why do you think he's in the Girls Gone Wild videos? Bad example on your part.
shareAnd no one else is in it for the money? Come on now. You are offended by the idea of this movie and that is acceptable, but I'm assuming Snoop had a much harder life and much more "street" cred than you. Bad example on your part.
shareIs there anyone here capable of arguing a point without resorting instantly to jumping to the kind of childish tit-for-tat namecalling? What is the average age here? 12?
shareSorry, I didn't see anyone call any names. Unless you're upset because that other guy suggested that Snoop Dogg has more street cred than you.
shareThere's no name-calling here at all. Are you an idiot? (oops, sorry....)
In fact, that reply to you (regarding Snoop) was a good point, I thought.... (one you never addressed, I might add.... THAT is childish).
Ya think maybe Snoop did the "Girls Gone Wild" because of the drunken, slutty girls? Actors and entertainers get paid to do stuff. They all do it for the money. Very few have the option to pick and choose every single project. Do you think Samuel L. Jackson would rather do "Snakes on a Plane" or "Othello?"
