I didnt get the little slip where she was reading in "The Christian Science Reading Room". Was that like a library or something?
shareI think she was just so pissed off at her dad she didnt want to go home. Christian Science Reading Rooms tend to be open 24/7 and they dont really ask questions.

I almost forgot about this scene, but now that you mention it, why was it in the movie anyway? Were the filmmakers insinuating that Charlie and Miranda are Christian Scientists and maybe that is the reason he is crazy? Or was it an unconscious decision to shoot a totally random scene where Miranda chills out in a reading room even though the camera shot intentionally tells us where she is?
Miranda was doing research - reading up about that that time in history, 1624. Since the large majority of books, journals and papers that were written in or about that time were religious texts that's one place she would check for referencing.

I think it was a quick edit to let the the viewer know Miranda did not come home for a night or two. She was fed up and slept at the "library".
