Why does it say its a true story?

When at the very end of the credits it says "This picture is a work of fiction. The characters and events portrayed in this motion picture are entirely fictional. Any resemblance to any person whether living or dead is entirely conincidental"

That' part of the "real" phoniness of mockumentaries – making them look like documentaries at the beginning before you see the inevitable disclaimers at the end.

Theres mockumentaries based on true things all the time its kind of stupid to say it is without at least a hint of truth, we get it, its a mockumentary theres no need to lie further about the origins of the mocked idea. Every other mockumentry that says that actually has some truth to it. These guys would have just let you believe it was as well except they had to put in fine print at the very end that no one watches that theres zero truth. Doesnt matter anyways its an average movie

It is truly average, especially for a topic that had so much potential.

The whole mockumentary thing seems to have run its course, with increasingly desperate attempts to stand out substituting for quality filmmaking. I remember seeing "The Fourth Kind," which has an introduction by Milla Jovovich (as herself) explaining the film is based on a true story, which turns out not to have been the case. It wasn't a bad film, certainly better than this one, but the whole manipulation of reality seems totally unnecessary.

Yes agreed, a lot of them really reach but its just boring and unecessary. If i didnt happen to catch in the credits it was 100% made up i probably would have thought it was at least based loosely on something real, mockumentary or not i hate when directors do that
