I can't believe how rude Maggie is in this movie...
I know it sounds stupid but I could tolerate her up until the point in which she spills Sprite on Ella's floor and she says "There's a paper towel on the counter" and Maggie just ignores her and keeps sipping the can of pop...

yeah. right on. cameron diaz was ridiculous. all she did for the first forty minutes or so was steal money from her relatives and do stupid *beep* and then she just assumed everything should revolve around her. and she was unrealistic as hell about her own life.

I loved this movie but regardless of having the role of being a "party girl" there was no reason to have her character be so rude in that scene.

The novel is much richer than the movie. Everything is foreshortened when screenwriters have to fit pages and pages of character development into the standard length for a movie.
