With Ishii going back to his pinku film roots, it sounds unlikely to be getting a release in the UK any time soon, but with an amazing director like Ishii I'm sure it must have at least some, ahem, remarkable images...

This is an excellent film no doubt and Aya Sugimoto is quite the revelation in the role of Shizuko, but the story itself has been remade several times prior to this version. The first version stars the luminous beauty Naomi Tani. Flower and Snake, along with Wife To Be Sacrificed made her one of Japan's most famous actresses, even if she chose to work exclusively in Pink Films, her enduring reputation is that of being as many call her "Majestic Queen of S&M Films".
