This film really interests me, just from what I've read and heard about it. It is, however, not to be found anywhere near me (Scandinavia)... Not yet, anyway. I believe it was shown at the Berlin film festival (or did I make that up?), but since then I've heard nothing about it in Europe.
I'm curious about the distribution of Voces inocentes:
In what country did you see it?
Everything is fine! I was just swinging from a chandelier without a seat belt.
I'm afraid I can answer only your last question. I'm Mexican and I saw it here in Mexico. This is the BEST mexican film ever made. No. 3 in My Top 20. Better than La Ley de Herodes, Y Tu Mamá También, Amarte Duele, Japón, and ALSO Amores Perros.
If you ever get to see it, convince all people you know to see it (and give it a 10 if they are IMDB users =). That is what I am doing in all my comments and boards in the page also.
So it's still doing the festival rounds? That's excellent - cos I assume it means the film can still get picked up by international distributers... right? (Or maybe that's just wishful thinking... :-)

Saw it when I was studying abroad in Guatemala for 2 months and visited El Salvador for a couple of days as well. Definitely a really powerful film. I bought a burned copy of it on the street in San Salvador but it's very poor quality and doesn't have subtitles and so the conversations go to quickly for me to follow. Hopefully I'll be able to go back to El Salvador later this summer and could pick up another copy, if not, maybe one of my friends in Guat. can get a better copy for me to hold me over till it's out in the US...
I also saw it in El Salvador after hearing a lot of hype about it...... I'm amazed it was even shown at all since we have a government that kisses azz to the Bush administration so all our freedoms are being trampled on.

I saw this wonderful movie in my native town San Miguel, El Salvador where I grew up in the middle of the civil war. I'm 31 and took my 17 year-old nephew with me and it was funny to see the different points of view while watching it. For my nephew it was just another "action movie" that it happened to have salvadoran characters, music and culture... for me, it was going back in time and realizing what a miracle it is to be alive after being in similar situations so many times. I couldn't help crying as soon as the movie started and my nephew looked at me and said: "Take it easy, it's just a movie!", of course, he was just a baby in 89 when we got trapped for almost 2 weeks in our house by crossed fire in the "final offensive" (Ofensiva hasta el tope). If you ever get the chance to see this terrific movie, don't miss it.

um yeah, i just bought the dvd in mexico, and it has english subtitles, ETN is promoting the dvd alot right now with the Sea Inside and Sideways, so it should be pretty easy to find if your in mexico
I just saw this movie for sale at www.cdwow.com. I think it is region 3 but most people have multi-region players. I am not an agent for cdwow by the way, only sharing the knowledge...enjoy.
I got my copy from Ebay. I saw the movie finally and I have to say that it was very moving. For people who lived through the war like me, it brought back several memories. Things like hiding under the bed and hearing people pray for a deceased child... Till this day, I don't like to hear a bunch of people praying for a dead person... the way the catholics do... all in unison... A kid in my neighborhood was killed during the war and I remember being in the room where everyone was praying for her.. it was awful... hearing or seeing that takes me back instantly to that feeling I felt when I was 7 years old. It's a really good film, and very emotional.
I saw it at the World Premiere at the 2004 Toronto International Film Festival, one of the most powerful films i have ever seen and certainly one of the best of 2004!
So it's out on dvd with English subtitles? And it can be found on cdwow.com? Excellent! Thanks guys, maybe I'll actually get to see it now! I was hoping for it to make its way to some European film festival near me, but no such luck. Not as far as I know anyway... But thanks, this info cheered me up.

The actress is Leonor Varela, and she did an amazing job. Let's hope this picture finally makes her a star. She deserves it. Check her out further here: http://www.leonor-varela.org/
I saw this film recently (Nov. 2005) at the Puro Mexicano film fetival in Tucson Arizona. But I heard that it was supposed to come out in the theaters here in America very soon so I'm assuming it should already be in out or coming out soon in Europe. Sorry I couldn't help you out more, but if you get a chance to see it, oh my gosh, go see it!! It was one of the best films I have seen in a long time.
I bought the movie in San Salvador and watched yesterday here as well. I have just been here 4 days, but I have to say El Salvador has the most amazing people ever, I love this country. My salvadorian friend was telling me, this movie was shot in Mexico, the people speak mexican dialect and use vocabulary that salvadorians didnT use. But he said he liked the movie a lot and found it quite authentic. I also loved the movie a lot, I think esspecially out of the kids perspective it gives a good introduction and is overall well done.
We recently watched it in school in a suburb of Chicago. I really didn't expect this movie to be as great as it was. It's a wonderful movie and had pretty great acting, expecially from the kids.
My Muncie, Indiana high school Spanish teacher showed this in our class over the last few weeks. Most of us knew enough Spanish to understand the dialogue. I cried.
I saw it during the Toronto International Film Festival back in 2004. I've been wanting to see it again ever since. It is one of my all time favourite films.
