most dramatic scene?

What scene did everyone think was the most dramatic and most essential to the movie? it seemed like there are so many to choose from!

reply

at the end when Chava's friends were executed one by one. Very emotional scene.

reply

i agree, the execution scene. that particular scene is very psychologically disturbing. the first kid's emotions were so real. i can still remember his face until now.

reply

gosh.. true true very true... i stopped breathing at that time.. esp w/ that little kid.. CHELE, i think.. (that Joaquin from Legend of Zorro..) Oh geeZ.. they're so helpLess

reply

Broke my heart.

reply

I saw this movie when I was 6, let me tell you I still remember that scene.

reply

the scene where chava's house was burning and he thought that his family was gone. but he found his mother. chava went to the states. i think that was one of the most crucial, but not really the climax

reply

I think that the scene where his friends are executed is the most dramatic scene for me...I can't explain how I felt when I saw that scene. It's a been a long time since a movie, in fact just one single scene in a movie has had an effect on me like that.

reply

i dont think it was essential to the movie but to me the most dramatic scene was when he is by the river its pouring rain and he throws the radio into the river while that song plays

reply

I agree the scene with the radio, all around me in the theatre people were in floods of tears at that moment.

reply

yes yes.. that too... he's too young to let go of a young-true love... and it's even accompanied by a very good/sad song... (good thing there were captions... it even made me cry more sigh,,)

wat was the song talkin about again?

reply

A little Trivia for you. I met the writer (the man who actually lived this) He let us know that the little girl survived! Her mother had heard what was going to happen and left in time. He went back to El Salvador and she had already married. Tear! It was a great opportunity to meet him.

reply

The radio scene in which emotions and facial expressions are at their best.

reply

i agree, the scene where his friends were executed oh boy that's heart wrenching moments...hard to forget..

<LC is my ultimate fave!!>

reply

It would be the children's execution scene, but not just that; but also when Chava grabs an assault rifle to shoot back at the Army, just to find out that the "enemies" were actually other kids like him.

It must be horrible, to see kids killing kids in wars. Also, notice how their friend who got recruited changed his personality.

reply

The most dramatic scene throughout the whole movie was when Chava's friends got executed at the back of the neck/head and they fall one by one. It was very sad and disturbing. Then the other sad part was when Chava saw the village homes burning in flames or something like that and then he started screaming. That part made my eyes watery. Other part is did Marcos ever lived? I was wondering cause it never showed him after that.

reply

You took the words right out of mouth! When Chava's friends got executed at the back of the neck/head and they fall one by one was one of the most dramatic scenes I ever seen in a film!

I don't mind if film makers do it because there are so many prunes who refuse to let movies have children dying in films. I prefer to see the truth then everything sugar coated. Does anyone else hate this ? Not saying I want to see it just saying when is necessary or important to the film they need to show it!

reply

I have to agree with everyone that the scene where Chava's friends are being executed is the most dramatic as well as before that when you see their friend who helped Chava, hung and shot in the head. I cried for a long time even after the movie was over so heart wrenching.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but I will kick you repeatedly in the balls!

I found it hard to keep tears from welling up in my eyes during the scene when Angelita got shot. Hearing the mother begging her daughter not to die, assuring her not be scarred, man that almost got to me. But when Chava's tio Beto started to sing "Casas de Carton," with Chava's sister crying , gun shots and RPGs going off in the background, and that did it for me.

reply

The most dramatic one is surely the one where the kids got shot one by one. But what made my heart shrink was the scene when he found that little girl's house burnt down, when he thought she died.

Execution scene and girl dying in mother's arms were very difficult to watch. The other scenes listed were also gripping.

I'd also recommend City of God, very good movie as well.
