Jack's choice regarding the 'To be...' soliloquey ::possible spoilers::

Jack had to choose whether Hamlet knows he's being watched by Polonius and Claudius, or if he believes he's speaking to himself. What do you think he decided?

reply

it showed them hiding behind the curtain.

That's only because in the play Claudius and Polonius are spying on Hamlet. The question is whether or not he knows. Geoff has the whole speech to him about deciding whether or not Hamlet knows they're listening, aka whether he's performing for them or talking to himself.

I believe he does realize they're there. It's all in figuring out when he realizes it.

I think you're right, he does know they're there. And I think that's what Jack chose to portray. But what's so essential to my understanding of Hamlet is that he thinks he's putting on a show for Claudius and Polonius, but he's actually speaking his mind. This is his self-deception. Thoughts?

He knew. That's why they showed them behind the curtain. It was Geoffry's visualization of how Jack was performing the scene. So he interpreted Jack to be performing as if they were watching.
