What was the role of the spookish older lady? (season2)

What does the older lady in Season 2 represent? She is spookish in the way that she looks and speaks to Geoffrey. I'm just not sure why she does this or what she represents.

I agree. He has not thought of doing "Macbeth," any more than Macbeth has thought of being Thane of Cawdor or King of Scotland. She essentially prophesies that he will do "Macbeth." She plants the seed with Geoffrey, just as the witches do with Macbeth.

She also tells Richard at the end of Season 2 "It's all yours now." Which paves the way for him to take over New Burbage at the end of Season 3, as the witch, she starts the prophecy all over again...

She was excellently cast in this role. Given each season lives out in real life within the characters whatever play/s they're focusing on performing, she is brilliant! Added credit goes to how she was filmed and utilized as a facilitator.

That actress is SO AMAZING. She looks so familiar, too. I can't think where I know her from...

I recognized that actress, Jackie Burroughs, from the television version of Armistead Maupin's TALES OF THE CITY, where she played Mother Mucca (proprietor of the desert brothel, and I won't say more, to avoid doing any spoilers) in some of the later-ish (I think) episodes. Sorry to see she died in 2010.
