Do the episodes continue with eachother or is it a new story every episode?

Is every season one long story with little sub stories in between or is it just a sitcom with a new story per episode?

Neither really. It's not a big long story, but it does build up from earlier episodes (and earlier seasons). There are few episodes that are truly stand-alone.
