My first Colombian telenovela.

I first heard of "Pasion de Gavilanes" in the spring of 2004 when we finally got Telemundo on our satellite system(Dishnetwork at the time)at my house. When I saw the intro, I figured this telenovela was from Mexico primarily because of the Mariachis that were featured in the intro. Then when the blue square with the letters, "RTI" appeared, I noticed in small lettering what appeared to say Colombia. My reaction was, "no way, this novela is from Colombia." I had already been somewhat familiar with both Mario Cimarro and Paola Rey but the rest of the main cast members such as Danna Garcia,J. Alfonso Batista, Michel Brown, Natasha Klauss, Kristina Lilley, Juan Pablo Shuk, Jorge Cao, and Zharick Leon I would become familiar with by watching this novela. I kind of watched it on and off when it originally aired back in 2004. Then in January, 2005 when Telemundo reaired the novela on weekday afternoons(1 p.m), I began to watch it seriously. I became such a fan of "PDG" that in the spring of 2005, I ordered and bought the soundtrack CD from Barnes & Noble(the B&N where I live has both a music and movie section within the store). And in late 2006, I bought the 5 disc DVD set although there was a lot of footage that was editted out from the TV version. But I still enjoyed watching the DVD. I didn't see "Las Aguas Mansas" which was the original version of "PDG" but I have come upon the intro and certain scenes from that version on Youtube. Unfortunately, they're dubbed in Russian without English subtitles. And yes, I did see "Fuego en la Sangre" which was the Mexican version of both novelas that was presented by Televisa and presented on Univision in 2008 and starred Adela Noriega, Eduardo Yanez, Pablo Montero, Jorge Salinas, Nora Salinas, Elizabeth Alvarez, Diana Bracho, Guillermo Garcia Cantu, Joaquin Cordero, and Ninel Conde. That version was good and I also have the DVD to that version as well(although I haven't watched it straight through to see what footage is left and editted out). Overall, "Pasion de Gavilanes" is one of my favorite telenovelas and it wasn't bad for a telenovela from Colombia either.
