Blue Gender

Aahhh remember watching this on the Sci-fi channel back in 2003 in england.

Twas a great film but my only real question is why didnt they just nuke the main blue sites from space then go in with earth retriveal squads or something.

Then again would of been a short anime :P

they probally would have but since there was alot of blue sites, if they were to nuke them all the earth would be useless since it would be filled with toxic nuke crap and all that happy stuff

not only would it be short but also not sensible
Nobody would volunteer to a mission in a radiated area - besides, there could be still people alive and god knows if the Blue were susceptible to radiation - what if they just muted even more?!
In fact, one episode shows there was always conventional bombarding and only then the ground forces were deployed - it was the mission in Africa.

The Blue resemble insects (at least superficially) and insects are hundreds of times more resistant to radiation than humans, which means that bombarding the Earth with nuclear weaponry would leave an irradiated wasteland that would be lethal to humans, but probably not to the Blue. Also, Blue nests go deep underground, so a nuclear weapon deployed from orbit might not wipe out the nest entirely. This same logic is employed in Heinlein's novel Starship Troopers. The entire surface of a planet could be reduced to radioactive glass, but the bugs would survive in their subterranean nests. Ground forces are needed to get inside the nest and destroy it from the inside out.

I like videogames. I like movies. In the name of both, Uwe Boll must be stopped!
