Award for the most depressing show I've ever watched

Do I hear a second?

Loved the show, but I guess what makes it distinguishable from most other anime, and cartoons in general is the usual mood/atmosphere of the show.

I'm not that far into the anime yet, although I've seen the movie as well. I would say it is pretty depressing, but not the most depressing anime(or of any show) I've ever seen. Actually, more depressing animes that I have seen are "Grave of the Fireflies" and "Full Metal Alchemist." There were just certain episodes of FMA that depressed(and scared) the hell out of me, especially when that little girl(I forgot her name) was turned into a chimera and killed by Scar. My god, that was terrible....

You are correct that it is distinguishable from most other animes. I suppose it adds a sense of realism and many of the ideas in Blue Gender are thought-provoking.

Don't run with sharp objects.

Margeary is dreaming of horses.

Most depressing I'd have to give to the episodes in Cowboy Bebop dealing with Spike's past, especially the last episode of the series

i don't even think this would make a top 10 most depressing anime list... hell, i didn't even think it was depressing. it had what was basically a happy ending, really.

if you think this was depressing, don't watch elfen lied. (elfen lied was awesome... but incredibly depressing)

and yes, this post is timely.
