Why Didn't Christine Cavanaugh Voice Chuckie??

She voiced him through over 10 years on the series, 2 movies AND the TV movie that came before this show, but then Nancy Cartwright comes on does her horrible Chuckie impersonation. All the other voice actors returned. Wonder why she didn't.

EDIT: Just saw she retired in 2001. I wonder why she retired.

Yeah even new episodes of the Rugrats didn't have her. She quit acting.

That's too bad, she had a pretty good career going for her. Plus Nancy Cartwright as Chuckie just doesn't sound right. I can hear Bart Simpson every once in a while in the voice.

I was watching the other night, I too heard the Bart Simpson in the voice. It annoyed me greatly, I could not focus on Chuckie at all!

reply

i guess that christine cavanaugh wanted to concentrate on voicing for the simpsons instead of rugrats

reply

What are you talking about? Christine Cavanaugh does not do voice work on the Simpsons. Nancy Cartwright does, she voices Bart.

reply

I had no idea Dexter voiced Chuckie!!

I thought it was Nancy the whole time.

reply

Not sure if she was ill perhaps, she died last year.

reply

she already quit Rugrats before All grown up happen

she leukemia and died before Xmas 2014 because of it.

She quit the business over her illness in 2001

For some reason, I always thought she was already dead why a new actress took over the voice of Chuckie.

I swear I wrote "I think" at the start of that sentence.

Anyways, I can't say for sure that's why she retired in 2001

but if it was because of the cancer, it wouldn't surprise me

Christine voiced Chuckie in the original "All Growed Up!" special in 2001, and Nancy started voicing Chuckie for the last two seasons of Rugrats as well as the All Grown Up series. It's not really a huge deal, Nancy still did Chuckie justice.
