Racial stereotypes in bionicle 2?

I watched this movie a while ago and couldn't help but notice that Matau seemed like a total Irish stereotype, right down to the accent and green/orange coloring. In fact, I could make similar comparisons to Whenua and Onewa, colored black and light brown respectively. Anyone else notice this?

Matau doesn't have orange colouring.

Anyhow, one of Bionicle's big themes is unity through teamwork - different people (usually Toa, but not always) come together, putting aside their petty differences to defeat the common evil. Hardly racism.
