Sgt. Jo's watch

During the unit's training i got a quick glimpse of Sgt. Jo's watch and i can't help but wonder, was there really somethin like a black Luminox Navy Seals watch back then?isn't that a bit anachronistic given the fact that those kind of watches weren't manufactured until recently,i mean during the 90's?

I had the director's commentary translated and he mentioned about the watch too. I think he got so many emails for that. He said that the watch was correctly used and the reason why people think it's a mistake in research is perhaps the watch was too new.
I have no idea. Some people say it was a wrong watch considering the time frame but the director says it is the right one to use. I think we need a watch expert who can actually analyze. Can anyone shed some light on this? I didn't care too much until now but I am really curious now.

Here's an easy way to have the commentary translated by someone.
I noticed that there are so many Korean students in Art/Film/Post production schools. You ask them, they will do it for a little fee I found. I also bought beer and hot wings for the dude and he was happy to do it for me. Those students know how to add text on the film anyway, why not ask them, eh?
