They should have just stopped after the first Saw ? I can't stand the sequels, none of them. Ok saw 2 is acceptable but its not dear to me like the first one. the first didn't feel over the top nearly as much as the sequels. i can't be the only one who feels this way. And i like the cast of characters in this one... Michael Emerson baby!

I faithfully watched every movie hoping they'd realize that the interesting part of the movies was John Kramer. This movie by itself is brilliance. The sequels left a lot to be desired.
thats exactly why im glad the series seems to be over and the only one i own on dvd is the first and thats not gonna change.

I actually feel the first three films are all very good modern suspense/horror films, and in fact I find the third film to be arguably superior to the original. Heck, I'll even say I really enjoy Saw VI for what it is, and feel it's a lot of fun and is a good addition to the series. IV, V and VII, not so much (bad movies, but they have their moments and a few inspired scenes)... but I'm personally glad they didn't just stop at one. Even the worst Saw movie is at least entertaining.

To a certain extent, yes. Stopping after the first one would have been good.
To an even larger one, they should have stopped after III.

Yep. They should have stopped. I love the first film and I like the idea of not knowing what exactly happened to Adam and Lawrence. The sequels just made everyone the bad guy with a not so new twist.

Well, popular films generally tend to have sequels. It's just the way it is now. I never understood the love for Saw 2. I think it's a very standard thriller with even worse acting than this film is claimed to have. I think Saw 3 is much better than 2, but the original is in it's own league.
