Way Better Than Expected...

Do not listen to the naysayers on this one folks. I saw it at blockbuster and it had a good quote from Fangoria magazine on the front of the dvd case and I said what the hell. This movie is a lot of fun with the late night tv horror show theme(just have to see it to know what I mean) and it had some genuine scares. I'd have to honestly say it's one of the better horror movies I've seen in quite a while. It is low budget, but some parts of it you'd never know and it's better than 90% of the big budget horror movies out today. Let me know what you think...it will surprise you especially if you like old school 80's horrors.

This was a great horror movie especially considering how low the budget was and how young the director is. If you don't like this then go watch some piece of crap like "The Return" or a stupid remake ala "The Fog"/"Halloween" aarggh, they all make me want to vomit. I was very skeptical of The Roost but if you like 80's horror you will love this complete with filmgrain and all.

Agreed. Saw this last night, and it was your basic horror movie. Kinda like the late 70s type of horror. This was a great film (just the crypt keeper guy bothered me) But i LOVED the rest.

If this film is much better than you expected, I seriously question your standards....

I like '70s and '80s horror, but comparing "The Roost" with those films is simply an insult. Certainly "The Roost" is different from those big budget made-for-teens scare films currently coming out of Hollywood, but that doesn't make it a good film. Acting was poor, plot was poor, scares were non-existant, etc. I honestly don't understand how ANYONE can think this was anything but a horrible attempt at making retro horror.

loved it real throwback to old school horrors.. no deep complicated story and lame twist endings.. was straight up spookyness.. the music cues and camera work were amazing.

You summed up the entire post with "I don't understand".

Damn right you don't. How can anybody not understand that their opinion is not gospel? How egotistical to you have to be whereby somebody liking something genuinely baffles you?
