Radio program REMOVED on Showtime?!? What Gives?!?

I'm about half way through this flick (DVR'd it on Showtime) and am LOVING the oldtime TV show intro & general mood of the flick...pretty creepy. But I noticed one thing...

I was watching this late at night while the wife was sleeping next to me...as you all know the audio in the film is pretty bad (& low) so I put on the subtitles. It seems the group of 4 as well as the old couple in the beginning are listening to some kind of Halloween radio show....BUT THERE IS NOTHING TO BE HEARD during the actual movie. What gives?!?! Why remove the radio show...just reading what it was sounds like it could've created MORE of a mood instead of dead silence during the drive through rickety bridge, etc.

Help!

I had the subtitles turned on too. I also noticed the radio show on the subtitles, but dead silence for the first few minutes while the radio show hosts goes on about a violent storm that was expected that night, then back to the 'horror' program that was on the radio show. I don't get why they cut it out of the audio either. Weird, I saw that, thought, "oh it must just be low budget, the soundtrack/audio must be really low" so I turned my surround sound receiver volume way up, still dead silence while the subtitles were scrolling on and on... changed audio tracks from "multi channel movie" to "auto-decode" to "dolby digital" etc. and still dead silence. I don't get it either?? They obviously deleted the audio from the radio show that was supposed to be playing in the background, but why? I too thought it would have made the first few minutes way more interesting. Hell, I would have thought something was wrong with my DVR if there was dead silence like that for the first couple minutes and deleted the show. Glad I had the subtitles switched on or would have fallen asleep heh. What gives?

Thanks for mentioning this. I saw the radio show listed in the credits and was wondering what was going on. I knew I hadn't fallen asleep because no one could sleep through that racket of screeching violins.

I wonder why it's not in the movie as broadcast? I think it would have added to the atmosphere.
