this movie was whack
i saw it at horror-thon in austin in july and it had moments, but the sound was annoying as all hell. even the emcees of the event were making fun of it when it ended.

shareThe fact that you use the word "whack" in that context tells me enough not to trust your opinion.
shareI thought it was just a good old fun horror film. It wasn't "whack" it was "rad" and "gnarly".
shareyeah. totally not whack.
it was both scary and funny. a really good balance by a film maker who will definitely go far.
Where did you guys catch the film? I'm still looking for a place and time to go. Ti West is the director and I've heard that he is looking like a young Romero or Raimi. If this is true than we can look forward to a lot more.

PG-13 is ruining the horror film.
The Roost - a real horror film.
Otis_Driftwood46- I don't know where you live but I'm going to see it tonight in Cambridge, MA.
shareI live near Reno, so anywhere around there. Like Sacramento would probably be as far as I would want to go. That's still like 2 hrs.

Definately, it had the gleeful feel of the first Evil Dead film. I had a chat with Ti after the film, he's a nice guy, obviously loved his schlock horror. I'm hoping it gets picked up for a wider release soon so more people can see it.
(And I really wasn't sure whether being "whack" was a good thing or not. Guess I'm just not down with the kids on the street, with the hep cats and their bad dope. Daddio.)
"Whack" usually means dumb. So in this case I'm guessing he meant that, exactly. Other than that, I'am still looking for a place to see the movie. Hopefully at the very least I might see some sort of Christmas DVD release? Anyone with updates please let me know.

Coz lifes too short to listen to Madlib
I thought it was pretty cool. Just gave me sort of a nostalgic feeling and reminded me of horror movies I used to watch when I was younger. I don't like all of West's movies (Inkeepers was boring af), but sometimes he gets it right and makes a good one. IMO, this is one of them.
shareThat's totally cool of course, my problem is wiht fake reviews not differing opinions. I actually liked innkeepers quite a bit:)

I totally agree about the fake comments and reviews. Not much pisses me off more. Maybe I'll give Innkeepers another try. It's been a while since I've watched it, and sometimes a second viewing can change my fickle little mind haha 😉
shareI agree, just finished it, horrible... and please stop comparing it to evil dead, nowhere near the level of movie evil dead is on.

its a fun horror flick if you let it be - not everything has to be "perfect" or fulfill your every wish for a horror movie
is it flawed? sure - i'm guessing Ti West would have liked a bigger budget than $50,000 but I think he did a solid job with limited resources and he has good taste
He's a name that is going to last in horror and I could see him crossing over into more the mystery thriller category like Seven or Silence of the Lamb
Can't wait to see The Sacrament
One does not simply keep clear of the moors . . .
