Mrs. Sims.

She's such a bitch.

Her son's acting out and she tell Brothers Owens, Jeff's nota bad boy.

Why did they have to put that in the script?

The argument being made was that the rock n' roll that Jeff was listening was (somehow) corrupting his morals, although Jeff does not really seem like a bad kid prior to talking with his pastor and by the film's end --I am with the Cinema Snob on this one -- Jeff seems like a perfect candidate for an mental health intervention.

I thought it was rather funny how the film tries so hard to argue that rock n' roll is evil, but then goes out of its way to give T.V. soap operas a moral "free pass".

No they didn't. Brother Owens made it clear both were bad.
