I love these movies...hands down - Best Trilogy Ever.
i just find this fact interesting and all of its arguments

That would be a valid question if the story was unfolding here, on our Earth...
However, this is a fictional world, Middle Earth, they have other races we do not have...
Also keep in mind that it was written in the 50s, when people did not have all the political correctness issues we have now....
