Can someone help me understand the ending of the movie .... ??

First of all, I've not read the book as I came to US a few years ago and was not educated here. I have watched the movie a few times (and the first two parts as well). I still don't get the ending ... are they going to their death by getting onto that ship ? If so, why Elves are going with them since they're immortals ? I'll appreciate if the Tolkin fans can explain this concept to me. Thanks in advance.

The elves are heading the west, a type of heaven for the elves. Bilbo and Frodo has been given the honor of joining them. Why? imho, Because they were both ring bearers. Why not Sam since he also was a ring bearer? Because Sam had a family and a reason to stay. Bilbo was dying and Frodo would never fully be healthy after being stabbed with a blade from Mordor. Hope this helps.

I'm not a stalker, I'm just curious...by the way you're out of milk.

But in the Apendices, Sam passes the book to his daughter Elenor and goes to the West to be reunited with Frodo. So to be fair that whole thing about the last ship to valinor was bollocks. There were at least another three - one for Cirdan, one for Legolas and Gimli and one for Sam and any remaining Elves

Legolas built his own and Sam was allowed because he was a ring bearer

They were all going to the Undying Lands across the sea.
