Should I really bother watching this?
I mean I've seen Gary Cole deliver a few great one liners but....is that it?

It's entertaining. I say, yeah, watch it.

yeah it's still worth watching. just watch seasons 1-5 and don't bother 6-8. Season 5 makes for a good series finale then go on to the movie if you'd like

I will chime in and agree. I loved seasons 1-5, I own them on DVD and sometimes watch them, but you don't really need to see seasons 6-8. I don't hate 6-8 nearly as much as many here do, but they are only okay to me.

I still rewatch seasons 1-5 at least twice year or so.

The give and take of the movie industry along with the quick witted humor are timeless so I of course agree with the rest.

To compare how I feel about it with another HBO show may help:
I think the happenings and characters on The Wire are timeless the same way so I rewatch that also.
