Wrong Aspect Ratio on DVD

The Australian DVD version of Cold & Dark is shown in 1.85 widescreen which isn't the original of 2.35. It is very noticeable when you watch it as half of peoples heads are out of frame when they are talking. Are other versions of the DVD the same in other countries or is it just the Australian one.
