Wasn't this an episode of the Simpson's?

On The Simpsons, didn't Millhouse run away from a movie set as a child movie star because he didn't like fame? Isn't that premise strikingly similar to Childstar?

Leave it to Canada to do something like this...

Leave it to Canada to do something like this?
Like what? It actually sounds like an interesting premise.
I don't think McKellar stole the idea from an old Simpson's episode.

Mckellar is too pretentious and dense to pay attention to pop culture, so I doubt he even watches the Simpsons. He's probably too busy watching some homosexual indie dance film from Turkey.

What bothers me about Mckellar is that he is so disconnected from contemporary culture that he didn't even realize Childstar's premise was identical to the premise of a Simpsons episode, one of the biggest TV shows in history.

Don, I know you think you're hot *beep* but please do your homework before you waste another six million dollars of Canadian tax payer's money.

To be fair, the script could have been good originally, I don't know, but Mckellar's directing made so that all I can think is, 'why was this made?'

I don't think Don McKellar took the idea from the Simpsons...maybe he based it around the episode, but the two are different.

6 million for this indie film is well spent !!

I mean Australian government gave 80 million tax rebate for a cheesy "Australia" movie.

This was just light entertainment with a message....
