Best game out of 3?

Am I the only one who didn't like the 3rd game as much as the other 2?

i loved the silly stuff in the first 2, like stealing a toilet brush, and talking to silly people like the american tourists!

the 3rd game is visually nice, but i much MUCH prefer the first 2, i think i even prefer the 2D animation.

I didn't really like the creeping around and pulling boxes you have to do in the 3rd game, i much prefer talking to lots of people, which didn't happen really in this one, only a few of the levels.

Yes, I was quite dissapointed!

so, which is YOUR favourite?

I'm still plowing my way through BS3 (12 hours and counting) so not in the best position to judge yet. But I did love the first two. Sadly I played them in the wrong order because they were borrowed games. Played BS2 then BS1 for some reason on the old Playstation (remember that the big grey one?) Fond memories. I too prefer the 2D animation. If I wanted 3D there are plenty of other games out there to choose from but BS3 is still cool. It's kept my attention all this time. The action seens are only mildly irrating when you have to play them over and over. I've had to use a walkthrough a couple of times too but it hasn't spoilt my enjoyment of the game.

I think BS2 is my favourite but it was a long time ago that I played it.

i used a walk through too, especially on them ore complicated box puzzles just because they just annoyed me!

there wasn't much talking to people in the 3rd which was my biggest dissapointment with the game as i loved that about the first 2.

i hope they will put that back in in the 4th one!

I agree. WAY too many box-puzzles in this game and barely any talking with people.
The humourus dialogue was the best part of the previous BS games.

I didn't really mind the 3D. (God, Nico is even cuter in 3D)!!!

Broken Sword may not be the best game i ever play but it still has its place in my heart. Those breathtaking graphics of the first game are still in my memories and i always enjoyed it everytime i played.Because everytime i played the first one,i'll play it alternately and i will often find something new. Then the second came out,it was ok. Even if i think that they can make it better. Then the third, 3D graphics are nice but i think they lack of charming and the dialogues are far and few and those box puzzles are annoying. In the end, George is the only thing that remind me which game i was playing!

BRING BACK THE SAME BROKEN SWORD!!!

I never played the first Broken Sword, but I played and really enjoyed Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror; I thought Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon was very good too, but sadly I agree with some of the complaints aimed at this game.

The move from 2D animation to 3D graphics were not entirely welcome, plus going with common consent I thought the box puzzles got a little silly. But I mostly liked the script (which was as witty as ever), the story and characters in The Sleeping Dragon for the most part.

I love all 4 games as the series is now... I think my list would go in order of :

BS1 being my all time favourite and possibly fave game ever

BS2 and BS3 I'd put on a very similar level as I loved both and was happy to see the Templars return for the 3rd... If I *had* to pick I'd probably go for BS2 but it's so close I wouldn't put anything in it.

Then my least favourite is Broken Sword 4, I still like it though. The problem for me is that it was a great idea in principle (point 'n' click back again etc) but it just wasn't "the finished article" for me. Anna Maria was brilliant but underused, her story was quite cool however. The ending was a disappointment and it ended too quickly... hopefully with the success of Broken Sword 4 being quite high, I hope a BS5 comes out and really brings the series back to form.

In short, love the first 3 and like number 4.

I liked the first two titles of Broken Sword. I'd say i really enjoyed the first one more. The story, the soundtrack and mostly the locations. Syria, Ireland, Spain, etc. All were really BEAUTIFUL locations. The second title wasn't so good as the first one, but still a very nice game. Now...the third part. The way the camera moves, the great amound of boxes and the controls are really irritating. Plus...i really don't like 3D graphics in adventure games. Visually, 3D is great and i like it in FPS shooters. But i can't play a 3D adventure (or strategy). My opinion, don't misjudge me. I'm old schooler in games.

So, i was dissapointed like you (and even more now that i've seen Angel Of Death). No other Broken Sword title will ever bring back the extremely beautiful worlds of the first two titles.

yes, they should have retained the 2d format. Its visually stunning, especially if they used the graphics technology of today it would be awesome. BS 3 was crap, too much darkness, lack of characters, lack of different locations, lack of thoughtful puzzles like in number 1 and 2. I havent played 4 yet but i hope its better.

BS2, without a doubt. A lot more involving, I feel. Though perhaps I'm showing favouritism as it was the first BS game I played.

I personally love the 3rd game, the atmosphere and the witty banter as someone has said already. The abandoned theater in France was creepy. Love that both George's and Nico's paths meet later in the game towards the same goal. Playing from both views was great. I love all the games really but the 4th was the worst but still playable.

I feel sorry for #3 of the series. Everyone compares it to the first two when really it is very different. Both 2d and 3d are good and have their pros and cons which im guessing they are trying to merge in the 5th one.

Yes it has to many box puzzles and aimed with consoles in mind, but it's a great game. Graphics are great, voice acting top notch and a really good story with memorable characters. #4 struggled with this and has such not well received.

#3 was the first i played and i loved it and introduced me to the series. comparing it to the first 2ds one is never going to work, it's like comparing a train journey to a car journey... both get you to point B but very differently but can be equally good and memorable.

By now im just wanting more of George and Nico and what adventures they end up in and if they will ever get together for good !!!
